Inclusion
Inclusion, EAL and SEND at Wendy’s Childcare Services
At Wendy’s Childcare Services, inclusion is at the centre of everything we do. Every child is welcomed as a unique individual with their own strengths, needs, culture, and voice. Our setting is designed to feel safe, nurturing, and deeply respectful of each child’s identity, ensuring they feel seen, heard, and valued from the moment they arrive.
Supporting Children with SEND
We are committed to providing high‑quality, personalised support for children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). Our approach is rooted in early identification, strong partnerships with families, and a belief that every child can thrive when given the right tools and opportunities. We:
• Adapt activities, routines, and environments so all children can participate meaningfully.
• Use visual supports, sensory resources, and hands‑on learning to help children regulate, communicate, and engage.
• Work closely with parents, health professionals, and external agencies to ensure consistency and continuity of care.
• Celebrate progress in all its forms, recognising that every step forward — big or small — matters.
Our Hygge-inspired, nature-rich environment supports emotional wellbeing, self-regulation, and confidence, offering calm spaces, outdoor exploration, and opportunities for children to lead their own learning.
Embracing EAL Learners
We are proud to welcome children who speak English as an Additional Language. Their home languages and cultural backgrounds enrich our setting and help all children develop curiosity, empathy, and global awareness. To support our EAL children, we:
• Share books in different languages so children can see themselves reflected in our environment.
• Use bilingual flashcards and visual cues to support communication, routines, and vocabulary building.
• Invite families to share traditions, celebrations, songs, and stories, helping us create a rich, multicultural curriculum.
• Model language through warm interactions, repetition, gestures, and play-based learning.
We value each child’s home language as a strength and encourage families to continue using it confidently at home.
A Setting Built on Belonging
Inclusion at Wendy’s Childcare Services is not a policy — it’s a lived experience. Children learn side by side, supporting one another, exploring nature, and celebrating what makes each of them special. Our curriculum is flexible, responsive, and designed to ensure that every child, regardless of need or background, can access meaningful learning.
We believe that when children feel they belong, they flourish — emotionally, socially, and academically.
